SCOTTSBLUFF, NEB. — Platte Valley Companies and First State Bank have canceled bank cards for nearly 600 customers after learning the records of a third-party credit card processor were compromised.
Platte Valley operates banks across the Nebraska Panhandle and in Wyoming. First State has bank locations in Gering, Scottsbluff and Colorado Springs.
Platte Valley marketing director Jacque Neu says the bank learned Wednesday of the breach of New Jersey-based Heartland Payment Systems’ records that allowed the lifting of customers’ names, expiration dates and PIN numbers.
Neu says 388 customers were affected.
First State Bank says about 200 cards from its institution were compromised.
Both banks have begun the process of getting customers new cards.
