Brandon Eugene Kreuzer pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in Douglas County Court today in connection with a crime spree last summer.
Kreuzer, 19, the son of a Denver police officer, and another man have been charged with numerous crimes that began in May and ended in late June.
The pair are accused of stealing numerous vehicles, breaking into houses and garages, stealing electronics and checkbooks, and swiping semiautomatic guns and rifles from area businesses. They also shot at deputies who were chasing them, but the pair managed to slip away.
Through his lawyer, Kreuzer also entered a not-guilty plea by reason of impaired ability. He was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation and will be transported to the state mental hospital in Pueblo.
Kreuzer’s alleged partner, Taylor Moudy, also 19, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing today, but that was continued until March.
