While some music festivals are expecting a tough 2009 – including Southern Florida’s Langerado, which cancelled its 2009 event earlier this week, and Southern California’s Coachella, which is offering a “layaway” plan for ticket purchases – the Telluride Bluegrass Festival should have a banner summer.
The fest already announced some of its big names, including Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris, alongside longtime favorites the Sam Bush Band and Bela Fleck.
But organizers just announced some other artists today, including Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, indie rock heroes Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, critical darling Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley) and a collaborative set from Fleck and Malian kora master Toumani Diabate.
Telluride sells out annually. See for tickets and information.
The festival runs June 18-21 in Telluride’s town park.
