Getting your player ready...

Rocky Mountain National Park might be your idea of the ideal romantic getaway, but don’t count on spending Valentine’s Day alone in the park with your sweetheart.

More than 1,000 people attended last year’s Winter Trails Snowshoe Event, and there’s no reason to believe the love won’t continue to flourish when the 14th annual event returns to the park’s Glacier Basin-area park-and-ride on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Snowshoe newbies can try out free equipment and instruction while everyone benefits from winter safety presentations, guided hikes and trail passes during the largest annual event conducted by the Winter Trails Organization. The coinciding President’s Challenge Clinic helps educate children and adults with tips on how to make physical activity a part of the winter routine. Registration is required and may be done the day of the event.

All events are free, although entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park requires a $20- per-car fee or an appropriate National Park Pass with identification.
