TOP 25 MEN

No. 1 Connecticut 63, No. 23 Syracuse 49: Hasheem Thabeet had eight points, 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots to lead the host Huskies (23-1, 11-1 Big East), who won their 12th in a row. Syracuse (18-7, 6-6) has lost five of its last six games.

No. 2 Oklahoma 78, Baylor 63: Blake Griffin had 18 points and 10 rebounds for his Oklahoma record- tying 21st double-double this season as the visiting Sooners (24-1, 10-0 Big 12) defeated the Bears (15-9, 3-7) for the 30th consecutive time, a streak that dates back to 1977.

No. 3 North Carolina 101, No. 6 Duke 87: Ty Lawson scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half, and the visiting Tar Heels (22-2, 8-2 Atlantic Coast) became the first team in nine seasons to hit triple digits against Duke. Kyle Singler scored 22 points and Jon Scheyer added 20 for the Blue Devils (20-4, 7-3).

In a battle for the ACC lead, North Carolina came on strong, using late runs of 25-11 and 14-0 to first take the lead for good and then stretch it to 17.

North Carolina State 82, No. 7 Wake Forest 76: Brandon Costner scored 23 points to help the host Wolfpack (13-9, 3-6 ACC) pull off the upset. Wake Forest (18-4, 5-4) cut a 20-point deficit to two with a minute remaining.

No. 8 Memphis 63, Tulsa 37: Robert Dozier scored a career-high 23 points for the host Tigers (21-3, 9-0 Conference USA), who won their 15th consecutive game and 51st consecutive in league play.

No. 20 Purdue 61, Penn State 47: The Boilermakers (18-6, 7-4 Big Ten) moved into a tie for second place in the league, while visiting Penn State (17-8, 6-6) lost its third straight.

AREA MEN

BYU 94, Colorado State 60: Jonathan Tavernari scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the hot-shooting Cougars (18-5, 6-3 Mountain West) in Provo, Utah.

Colorado State (8-16, 3-7) was outscored 26-10 in the paint and 12-2 on fast breaks during the decisive first half, which ended 51-27.

The Cougars shot 65 percent for the game, the Rams 32 percent.

The Rams were led by Marcus Walker’s 19 points.

BIG 12

Kansas State 85, Texas Tech 73: Darren Kent’s 18 points led the winning Wildcats (17-7, 6-4) at home.

MOUNTAIN WEST

Utah 67, San Diego State 55: Shaun Green scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the host Utes (17-7, 8-2), who took over sole possession of first place. Kyle Spain scored 18 points to lead San Diego State (17-6, 7-3).

No. 1 Connecticut 77, St. John’s 64: Renee Montgomery and Tina Charles each scored 21 points to help the visiting Huskies (24-0, 10-0 Big East) keep rolling.

No. 2 Oklahoma 58, No. 16 Iowa State 49: Courtney Paris got back into double-double territory with a season-high 25 points and 19 rebounds to lead the host Sooners (21-2, 9-0 Big 12) past the Cyclones (18-5, 6-3).

No. 7 Baylor 64, Oklahoma State 62, OT: Danielle Wilson scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Jhasmin Player scored a season-high 19 points as the visiting Lady Bears (20-3, 8-2 Big 12) held off the Cowgirls (14-8, 3-6), who were led by Andrea Riley’s 21 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 10 Louisville 71, No. 22 Notre Dame 66: Candyce Bingham had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Angel McCoughtry added 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the visiting Cardinals (22-3, 9-2 Big East) over the Fighting Irish (17-6, 6-5).

Texas Tech 60, No. 12 Texas A&M 53: Dominic Seals had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Kierra Mallard scored a team-high 15 points to help lift the host Lady Raiders (14-9, 4-5 Big 12) over Texas A&M (18-5, 6-4).

No. 13 Texas 74, Kansas 66: Brittainey Raven scored 16 points, leading the host Longhorns (18-5, 6-3 Big 12).

No. 21 Xavier 82, George Washington 62: Ta’Shia Phillips and Jerri Taylor each scored 17 points, leading host Xavier (21-4, 9-0 Atlantic 10) to its 12th consecutive victory.

No. 25 DePaul 80, Seton Hall 39: Deirdre Naughton scored 17 points for the host Blue Demons (19-6, 7-4 Big East).

AREA WOMEN

BYU 53, Colorado State 51: CSU’s Britney Minor missed a layup with three seconds left as the host Rams (7-16, 2-8 Mountain West) lost to the Cougars (16-5, 6-3).

New Mexico 79, Air Force 33: The visiting Falcons (4-19, 0-10 MWC) shot only 12 percent from the field in the first half and trailed 41-11 at the break to the Lobos (17-6, 5-4).
