HELENA, Mont.—Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton has been appointed to serve on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee.

Fullerton is the first Big Sky Conference commissioner or athletics director selected to serve on the 10-person committee. It selects the 65-team tournament field and decides future tournament sites.

Fullerton will start a five-year term on Sept. 1, 2009. He is one of three people recently selected to serve, joining Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe and Ronald Wellman of Wake Forest University. They will replace outgoing committee members Chris Hill of Utah, Mike Slive of the SEC and Tom O’Connor of George Mason.

Fullerton is a native of Hamilton, Mont. He’s in his 14th year as commissioner of the Big Sky.
