PUEBLO, Colo.—A Fort Carson soldier has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the 2007 slaying of a Pueblo cab driver.
Twenty-three-year-old Olin Ferrier was sentenced Thursday after a jury last week convicted him of first-degree murder in death of 51-year-old David Chance.
Chance was found shot to death inside his idling taxi on Oct. 30, 2007. Prosecutors say Ferrier shot Chance during a robbery.
Ferrier was one of six people arrested in Chance’s slaying. He told jurors he was home with his girlfriend when the cab driver was killed.
Twenty-five-year-old Matthew Koncilja and 18-year-old David Montoya pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Ferrier and others in exchange for leniency.
Trials for two other co-defendants, 20-year-old Maximo Ramos and 17-year-old Raymond Terrones, are pending.
