A balding man with a mustache, piercings on his face and tattoos covering his arms told three young girls today that he had lost his dog, but they refused to get in his truck and he moved on, the Weld County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
Officials think it may not be the first time the man tried to pick up young girls in the area. There was a similar incident last November.
The three girls today were ages 6 to 10. The man pulled over his white pickup in the Idaho Creek subdivision at about 10:30 this afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
He told them he was looking for a dog with a black-and-white coat. The girls told police the truck had black mirror mounts, black handles and a gray tool box in its bed.
The Sheriff’s Department said it has stepped up patrols in the area.
