LAS VEGAS — A day after upsetting fifth-seeded Wyoming, Colorado State gave No. 4 seed New Mexico a scare before the Lobos prevailed 62-48 on Wednesday in a women’s quarterfinal at the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

CSU led through much of the first half, but fell behind 25-22 at halftime. The margin remained within three points until Amy Beggin’s 3-pointer put New Mexico (22-9) up by six with 4:44 left.

New Mexico had too much punch from Angela Hartill and Beggin, who combined for 38 points. Bonnie Barbee came off the bench as CSU’s only player in double figures with 12 points.

“We’ve come a long way this year,” said CSU coach Kristen Holt, whose Rams finished 10-21. Natalie Meisler, The Denver Post
