Two Douglas County teachers are the first recipients of scholarships made possible by a partnership between Jones International University of Centennial, the Douglas County School District and the Doug las County Education Foundation.

The partnership will provide up to $1 million in scholarships to Jones International. It launched with two full scholarships awarded Saturday.

Christine Jojola is the literacy specialist and reading recovery teacher at Soaring Hawk Elementary School. She has been teaching for 24 years, 14 in Douglas County schools.

Kurt Stroman teaches vocal music and orchestra at Cimarron Middle School and Legend High School. He has been with the district for 16 years.

Jojola and Stroman will receive full scholarships for doctorate or master’s degrees. The Denver Post
