Lady Gaga brought dance pop back to basics last year with “Just Dance,” a pounding, ’90s-leaning hit that channeled the blissful confusion of clubgoers everywhere. Gaga, a.k.a. Stefani Germanotta, isn’t the warmest performer out there, but her icy glam style and cutting lyrics fit our choppy times perfectly. Saturday at the Gothic with the White Tie Affair, Chester French and Cinema Bizarre. Sold out.
Chick Corea and John McLaughlin will round out their “5 Peace Band” with Kenny Garrett, Christian McBride and Vinnie Colaiuta at the Paramount on Wednesday, a powerhouse jazz quintet that promises to make the venue the center of Colorado’s jazz world for a few hours. Expect a selection of classics from either artists’ sprawling solo catalogs, as well as some of their work with Miles Davis and others. $44.50-$84.50.
Abe Vigoda and Women are the hottest underground rock bill in Denver next week, a blog-approved mess of willfully lo-fi, backward-gazing pop with playfulness, cred and soiled melodies to spare. If most indie rock has left you limp lately, give these kids your attention. Wednesday at Rhinoceropolis with Eyes and Ears and M. Pyres. $6.
