LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — A 47-year-old local resident fell to his death trying to take a picture along Lookout Mountain Road on Monday afternoon, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was with others about 4 p.m. when he stepped over the guardrail to snap the photo and fell about 60 feet.
He was dead when rescuers arrived.
“We don’t know yet if it was the high wind this afternoon or if he just lost his footing,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jacki Kelley.
She said there were no indications of foul play.
The man was not named by authorities. Kelley said he had lived in the area for several years.
