A 25-year-old inmate in the Adams County jail died of injuries suffered from hanging himself, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Kevin Albert Martin of Thornton was arrested Feb. 24 by Thornton police on four outstanding warrants, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.

He was found hanging in his jail cell Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said, during a routine check.

Martin was taken to a local hospital, where he died Tuesday.

He did not have a cellmate at the jail, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Martin was being held in lieu of $17,250 bail for contempt of court relating to charges of driving under the influence, third-degree assault, felony theft, criminal mischief and domestic violence.
