HAVANA — Fidel Castro is praising two aging revolutionaries recently dropped from Cuba’s Cabinet, saying it is unfair to say they were dismissed.
Cuba’s Official Gazette reported Tuesday that Pedro Miret and Osmany Cienfuegos were “liberated” as vice presidents in a Cabinet reshuffle earlier this month.
Fidel Castro said in an essay published Wednesday that the 82-year-old Miret, who is sick, and the 78-year-old Cienfuegos have not been active Cabinet members for some time and that removing their names was administrative.
