Fifteen community health centers throughout Colorado will receive $7.5 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, according to a statement from U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet’s office.The Health Resources and Services Administration will distribute payments to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Denver Health and Hospital Authority, Metro Community Provider Network, Clinica Campesina Family Health Services, Mountain Family Health Center, Valley-Wide Health Systems Inc., Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association Inc., Uncompahgre Combined Clinics, Pueblo Community Health Center Inc., Sunrise Community Health, Plan De Salud Del Valle Inc., High Plains Community Health Center, Limon Drs. Committee, Pike Vista Community Health Centers and Dolores County Health Association.
The health centers had previously submitted applications showing new strategies for serving patients, such as expanding hours of operation or adding new providers, according to Bennet’s office.
“These are tough economic times, and the money from the economic recovery package will help to keep Colorado’s community health centers out of the red,” Bennet said.
