An eclectic group of speakers is to address the 25th National Space Symposium next week in Colorado Springs.
Sponsored by the Space Foundation in Colorado Springs, the event kicks off Monday at The Broadmoor, and the first panel — featuring futurist author Alvin Toffler — is scheduled for Tuesday.
More than 7,500 registrants, speakers, exhibitors and media from around the world are expected to attend the event, which has the theme “The Next Space Age.”
U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael B. Donley is to close the event Thursday with a discussion about the current state and outlook of Air Force space programs and implications for the global space community.
The conference will feature workshops, panels, forums and presentations on a variety of space-related issues, including commercial development, military applications, climate change and entrepreneurship.
“The industry is mature and global; more space-faring nations are on the rise,” the Space Foundation said in a news release. “The age of space access for everyone is rapidly approaching . . .”
Industry giants such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Ball Aerospace and Northrop Grumman are expected to attend.
