Getting your player ready...

If the urge to save is doing battle with your desire to dine out, here’s a compromise:

Website bills itself as a matchmaker between local restaurants and customers. Participating restaurants sell deeply discounted meal vouchers on the site in exchange for getting more people through the door.

Diners can plunk down just $10 for a $25 restaurant gift certificate, for instance. Each restaurant offers different denominations, and only a certain number are available for a given restaurant.

The hook is that you have to agree to spend a minimum at the restaurant before your certificate can be used. Some restaurants might require a minimum purchase of $35 in order to use a $25 gift certificate.

Use of the certificates may be limited to weeknights.
