University of Denver alum Kevin Ulanski scored two goals to lead the Colorado Eagles to a 4-3 win Sunday over Bossier-Shreveport in the first game of the Central Hockey League Northern Conference semifinals at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.

Ulanski’s second goal, a short-handed score in the third period, broke a 2-2 tie, and Greg Pankewicz added a power-play goal, ensuring the Eagles’ win.

The Eagles and Mudbugs will meet in Game 2 tonight at the Budweiser Events Center.

Davis, 14ers beat Mad Ants.

With 20 points from Josh Davis, the Colorado 14ers beat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 115-105 in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The 14ers, who led by as many as 25 points, finished with seven players in double figures.

Phinney finishes sixth.

Boulder’s Taylor Phinney finished sixth in the men’s omnium event at the cycling track world championships in Pruszkow, Poland. Australia’s Leigh Howard won the event, which includes two time trials, a scratch race, individual pursuit and a points race.
