Forbes magazine has ranked Fort Collins as the best place in Colorado and second-best nationally in its annual business and careers list.
Forbes said the rankings were based on several criteria, including job growth over the last five years and projections through 2011.
Fort Collins ranked in the top 15 of U.S. cities in four categories: educational attainment of its population, sixth place; past income growth, ninth; fewest subprime mortgages, 10th; and projected job growth, 13th.
Nationally, Raleigh, N.C., was ranked No. 1, followed by Durham, N.C., at No. 3; Fayetteville, Ark., at No. 4 and Lincoln, Neb., at No. 5.
