A Denver shooting suspect was captured early Thursday after hiding in an attic.

Elijah J. Crumpton, 19, was wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, said Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Police received a tip that Crumpton was at a home in the 3200 block of Cherry Street. Officers arrived about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, but Crumpton refused to come out. About 4:30 a.m., police used tear gas to stir him. Crumpton still did not come out, and police searched the home but didn’t find him.

Tear gas then was used in the attic of the home, which flushed him out.
