According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only Connie Mack (50 years with the Athletics) and John McGraw (31 years with the Giants) have a longer tenure with the same team than Bobby Cox, who is beginning his 24th season as the manager of the Braves. Cox guided the Braves for four seasons starting in 1978, went to Toronto for a while, and has been back in Atlanta since 1990. Fifty years after signing his first professional contract, Cox retains a boyish love for the game. “Still have a passion for it,” the 67-year-old said earlier this spring. “It’s fun.
