Just six weeks after the Rocky Mountain News shut its doors, a new tenant is poised to take over its former space.
The State Court Administrator’s office is negotiating a lease for the the News’ 46,000-square-foot space on the fifth floor of 101 W. Colfax Ave., said Rob McCallum, spokesman for the Colorado Judicial Branch. About 200 employees will work in the building, which also is home to The Denver Post and its owner, ap.
McCallum declined to specify the length or terms of the lease deal.
Tom Lee and Darrin Revious of Frederick Ross Co., who are representing ap and News owner E.W. Scripps Co. in the leasing of the space, declined to comment.
The Court Administrator’s office will relocate from its current space at 1301 Pennsylvania St., near the Colorado History Museum.
A new 615,000-square-foot court complex is planned for that site. It will consolidate the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, attorney general’s office and other judicial and legal offices.
The history museum, now next door to the Supreme Court building, will be relocated to a new 200,000-square-foot facility one block south.
