The Denver Botanic Gardens’ undeniably popular summer concert series announced its talent lineup for this summer, and while some of the names (Lucinda Williams, William Topley) are all-too-familiar to the adult-contemporary-centered series, others (the B-52s and Bob Weir & Ratdog) are fresh additions.
The 2009 series includes enough variety to keep things interesting. From reggae (Toots & the Maytals) to jam bands (Leftover Salmon), folk (Joan Baez) to Latin fusion (Poncho Sanchez/Lila Downs), the Botanic Gardens concert series is clearly going for the something-for-everyone approach.
This year’s prices are surprisingly high, especially considering the economy. Three of the shows have tickets topping the $70 mark, and is it really worth $80-plus (including service fees) to hear “Love Shack” one more time?
Each of the concerts start at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. (Regulars know that you have to get there early to secure even moderate seating.) The DBG’s tiered membership allows for various sale dates and times, the first of which is 4 p.m. April 29th for “contributing members.” See for individual on-sale dates and times.
