Ah, yes, spring is in the air — somewhere outside of Colorado, anyway — and the Detroit Lions are back to being, well, the Detroit Lions. For one weekend, Jim Schwartz gets to stop worrying about the NFL draft and be a coach again. The rookie head coach and the first coach in history to face rebuilding a 0-16 team said he was going to force himself to not get too excited or too depressed about anything he saw Friday afternoon. “In the first practice, everyone is rusty, everyone is sloppy and the tempo is always out of control,” Schwartz said. Sounds like the Lions are already in midseason form. The Associated Press
It’s in the hole (again)
Some guys have all the luck. Well, maybe some skill, too. Brendon Todd made Nationwide Tour history by making a hole-in-one on the same hole for the second straight day at the Athens (Ga.) Regional Foundation Classic. Todd aced the 147-yard 17th hole Friday, using an 8-iron. “It’s still hard to believe,” Todd said after posting a 1-under-par 71. “It’s a bit surreal, even now.” On Thursday, Todd used a 7-iron when the hole played 157 yards and he finished with a 4-under 68. The last player to ace the same hole twice in the same tournament was Graham Marsh in the first and third rounds of the 2004 Senior British Open. The Associated Press
