The fate of a fledgling online newspaper remained uncertain Thursday. Financial backers of said they received commitments for about 3,000 paid subscriptions, far short of the 50,000 they said they needed when the startup was announced March 16. It has operated for a month with about 30 former staffers of the defunct Rocky Mountain News.
“Our intention is to move forward with a different business model,” one involving fewer than 10 employees, said Denver businessman Kevin Preblud, one of the financiers.
Former News staffers David Milstead and Steve Foster said they are leaving the venture and will seek financial backers for a new online publication. Steve Raabe, The Denver Post
