Save the whales with benefit sales
Buffalo Exchange has joined forces with the Humane Society of the United States. The new and used “recycled fashion” store will donate all proceeds from its Dollar Day Sale today (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) to the Save Whales-Not Whaling campaign of The HSUS and its international arm, Humane Society International. Formed in 1967 and formerly known as the DU Faculty Wives Club, the DU Antique Study Group is holding its annual garage sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and May 2. The event is in a bigger space because of its popularity, and shoppers will find linens, collectibles, art, china, toys and more. Consignments also are welcome.

So long, farewell to Sarah and Barbara
Two stores are closing their doors and have marked down the entire inventory. Sarah, an award-winning women’s boutique on Old South Gaylord, offers several popular lines including 3 dots and Trina Turk, along with handbags, shoes and jewelry. Owner Sarah Penewell has just been named “fashion ambassador” to Stacy London from TLC’s “What Not to Wear.” Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. And Barbara and Co. is closing its Tamarac Square location after 26 years. All collections are reduced, including designs from Europe. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
