PHOENIX — Brandon Webb’s pitching shoulder feels fine — until the Diamondbacks’ ace pitches.

Webb, who hasn’t pitched since opening day, will rest for three weeks after a setback Friday. Then he hopes to ease back into the rotation with bullpen sessions and a possible rehabilitation start.

That means the Diamondbacks could be without the 2006 NL Cy Young Award winner until late May.

“It’s frustrating because what I feel right now, I feel fine,” Webb said Saturday. “Just when I throw is when I get the pain.”

Mauer is getting closer

CLEVELAND — Twins catcher Joe Mauer could rejoin the club as early as Tuesday after spending time on the disabled list with a sore lower back.

Mauer went 0-for-3 and caught seven innings Saturday in his second rehabilitation game with Single-A Fort Myers. He was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and caught seven innings Friday night.

Mauer is scheduled to DH today and then catch nine innings for Fort Myers on Monday. A decision will then be made then on when he’ll return to the Twins.
