University of Colorado freshman Emily Talley carded a second consecutive 3-over-par 76, and teammate Julie Kim shot a 75 as the Buffaloes jumped three spots into fourth place after the second round at the Big 12 women’s golf championship in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday.

Talley, who eagled No. 2 on the 6,564-yard Rawls Course on the second day, is in eighth place at 152 heading into the third and final round. Kim is 15th at 154. Oklahoma State’s Caroline Hedwall and Texas A&M’s Ashley Freeman are tied atop the leaderboard at 145. CU is tied for fourth in the team standings, 25 shots behind leader Oklahoma State.

Colorado State’s Riley Arp shot a 7-under 65 in the final round of BYU’s Cougar Golf Classic and finished in fourth place. Arp finished at 9-under 207 on the 7,142-yard Riverside Country Club course. The Rams took second in the team standings, nine strokes behind winner Brigham Young.

UNLV wins home run derby.

In a game that featured nine home runs and 41 total hits, UNLV won a Mountain West Conference baseball slugfest over host Air Force 20-13 at Falcon Field. UNLV (21-21) finished with 23 hits, six of them home runs — by Bryan Resnick, Jarred Frierson, Ryan Thornton, Rance Roundy, Kyle Kretchmer and Joe DiMaggio. Air Force (14-25) had 18 hits, with homers from Ben Ausbun, Nathan Carter and Matt Alexander.
