Right-handed reliever Matt Daley made his big-league debut, entering the game in the seventh with one on and no outs and the Rockies trailing 6-5. Daley’s heart no doubt skipped a beat when the first batter he faced, Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, launched a ball to deep right-center. But Dexter Fowler made a running catch before bouncing off the wall. Daley walked Matt Kemp and then plunked Casey Blake, but got out of the inning by striking out relief pitcher Ramon Troncoso looking with a nasty curveball. Daley, 26, was called up Wednesday from Triple-A Colorado Springs when Franklin Morales was placed on the disabled list with a shoulder strain.
Slow starters.
Rockies opponents have scored first in six of the last seven games. The Dodgers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning Saturday night.
Mr. 300.
Finally, a Rockies regular has climbed above the .300 mark. Brad Hawpe hit a first-inning single and a two-run single in the third, and is now hitting .308 (16-for-52).
