MINOR-LEAGUE SPOTLINGT ON…

Tulsa shortstop Chris Nelson

Tulsa manager Stu Cole saw what he wanted to see in shortstop Chris Nelson’s attitude during spring training. Nelson, the Rockies’ top draft pick in 2004, has been up and down the development ladder for five years.

“He came in with the attitude that he was going to show the organization that he’s ready to go,” Cole said. “He realizes time doesn’t wait for anyone, and there have been players who have passed him by.”

In his past 10 games heading into the weekend, Nelson hit .286 with 10 runs scored, 10 hits, two doubles, three home runs, seven RBIs and three stolen bases.
