PLATTEVILLE, Colo.—Two men are dead after a three-vehicle crash in Weld County.
The Colorado State Patrol says the Tuesday morning wreck happened on Colorado 66 near County Road 17, west of Platteville.
The patrol says a Honda CR-V and Ford Escort were eastbound on Colorado 66 when traffic slowed for a turning vehicle, and the Honda rear-ended the Ford.
The Ford was then pushed into the westbound lane of Colorado 66, where it collided with an oncoming Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The patrol says the crash killed the driver of the Dodge, 52-year-old James Matthews of Buena Vista, and the driver of the Ford, 53-year-old Bruce Patterson of Longmont.
The Honda’s driver, 19-year-old Nellie Townsend of Westminster, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The patrol says charges are pending, but alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
Platteville is 15 miles southwest of Greeley.
