The conclusive identification of a body found in a burned car in Rocky Mountain National Park on Wednesday may take weeks, authorities said Thursday.
An investigation is underway, but the fire appears to be the result of a car accident, according to a statement from the National Park Service on Thursday afternoon.
The 2008 Toyota Camry with Colorado plates apparently ran off the road sometime Tuesday night and burst into flames. The body was found by a park employee near the Kawuneeche Visitor Center about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
