Texas scored three power-play goals as the Colorado Eagles lost 6-2 to the Brahmas in Game 3 of the Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Ed McGrane scored both goals for the Eagles — one power-play goal and one short-handed. Colorado was assessed 11 penalties, including six in the third period, and couldn’t stop the Brahmas from capitalizing on the man-advantage.

The Brahmas lead the series 2-1. Game 4 is Tuesday night in Texas.

Sky Sox drop two in Springs.

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox lost their first doubleheader of the season, falling to Sacramento 6-3 and 7-4 at Security Service Field in Colorado Springs.

In the opener, which was a completion of Friday night’s suspended game, Sky Sox pitcher Randy Flores allowed three runs (two earned) in the 10th inning to give Sacramento a 6-3 win.

Matt Miller had two RBIs and Mike McCoy went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Colorado Springs in the second game, but the Sky Sox gave up three runs in the sixth inning and went on to lose in seven innings.

UNC loses wild one.

In a game that featured 44 runs, 48 hits, 10 walks, three hit batsmen and four errors, Utah Valley outlasted Northern Colorado 23-21 at Jackson Field in Greeley.

Utah Valley (16-30) led 17-0 after 3 1/2 innings only to see the Bears (12-33) cut it to 19-17 after a 10-run sixth inning. Utah Valley got it back to a six-run lead, 23-17, before UNC again made it interesting with four runs in the ninth inning.

UNC’s Kevin Sandberg was the hitting star, going 6-for-6, including his 15th home run of the season. Utah Valley’s Cole Anderson and Jace Brinkerhoff each went 5-for-7.
