CALGARY, Alberta — The Colorado Mammoth’s season ended Sunday in Calgary with a 15-8 loss to the Roughnecks at the Pengrowth Saddledome in an NLL West Division semifinal.
Calgary (13-4), the top seed in the playoffs, ended the Mammoth’s season for the second consecutive year.
Dane Dobbie had a hat trick along with four assists for Calgary, and Tracey Kelusky also tallied a hat trick with two assists.
Gavin Prout had two goals and three assists and Jamie Shewchuk had two goals and two assists to lead the Mammoth.
Colorado fell behind early, trailing 6-3 after the first quarter and 10-3 at halftime.
Mammoth starting goaltender Andrew Leyshon allowed nine goals in 19 shots and was replaced by Curtis Palidwor in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, goals by Chris Gill and Matt Leveque gave Colorado some life as they closed to within 10-5, but that was as close as the Mammoth would get. The Roughnecks led 12-6 after three quarters.
Calgary’s Matt King, who was 7-0 in the regular season, had a tremendous game in net, stopping 40-of-48 shots.
Calgary will host San Jose on Saturday in the West Division final.
