A tentative agreement has been reached by Southwest Airlines and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 142, which represents the airline’s customer-support and service employees.
The agreement reached Tuesday is for a four-year contract through Oct. 31, 2012. The current contract became amendable Oct. 31, and the airline and union began negotiations in August.
In a statement, Southwest officials said the proposal provides wage and benefit increases in exchange for work-rule improvements and scheduling flexibility.
