The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission voted Thursday not to allow state health and wildlife agencies to appeal the award of drilling permits to the the full commission.
The legislature directed the commission to consult with the state Department of Public Health and Environment and the state Division of Wildlife on granting permits.
Some state legislators and industry officials, however, expressed concerns that allowing appeals could seriously delay permits.
Under Thursday’s action, the agencies will consult with the commission’s director on permit applications.
