LITTLETON, Colo.—Fire officials say a 14-year-old boy is suspected of starting a fire that heavily damaged a townhouse complex in Jefferson County.

The blaze was reported at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. At least four units were damaged or destroyed.

West Metro Fire Rescue spokeswoman Cindy Matthews says the teen ignited a bush outside the complex with a lighter, and the flames spread upward.

The teen was arrested late Wednesday. Authorities say he faces charges of first- and second-degree arson and reckless endangerment. His name wasn’t released because he’s a juvenile.

No serious injuries were reported, but a firefighter hurt his leg.

Up to a dozen people were displaced by the blaze.

The Denver Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting residents.
