U.S. Reps. Betsy Markey and John Salazar on Thursday urged fellow Democrat Gov. Bill Ritter to sign House Bill 1317, which would bar the U.S. Army from acquiring state lands as part of its expansion of the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site in southeastern Colorado.
The letter to Ritter comes after Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman and former GOP Rep. Scott McInnis this month called for Ritter to veto the bill. Ritter’s office said the governor is still reviewing the bill.
