A motorcyclist died Wednesday night after colliding with a car at an Aurora intersection, police said.
The fatal accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. at Havana Street and East First Avenue, Aurora police said in a media release.
The driver of the Harley Davidson killed in the collision was not identified. The driver of the Ford Mustang that collided with the bike was identified by police as 28-year-old Fidencio Herrera-Olague.
Herrera-Olague was arrested and is being held on suspicion of careless driving resulting in death, driving under revocation and failure to yield the right of way when turning left in front of approaching traffic.
He is being held at the Aurora jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Investigators suspect Herrera-Olague of being an illegal immigrant, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified, police said.
A young child, a passenger in the Mustang, was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, police said.
Police said the motorcycle was heading north on Havana and the Mustang was heading south on Havana when the driver of the Mustang turned left onto East First Avenue, cutting in front of the bike.
Investigators believe the light was yellow for both the Mustang and the Harley. The investigation is ongoing.
