Colorado Springs police said today that an accused burglar confronted by a police officer and shot dead Sunday was carrying a pistol at the time.
Paul Kovacevic, 29, of Colorado Springs ran but fell dead from a gunshot wound inside the garage of the home in the 8200 block of Candon Drive.
An accused accomplice, Adam Cecil, 29, of Colorado Springs, was caught a half-block down the street and subdued with a Taser, police said.
Cecil is being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges of first-degree burglary.
Police were called when the homeowners’ car was broken into at another location, and their garage-door opener was taken. When they returned home at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday, their garage door was open.
The police officer, who has not been named, said he encountered the two burglars in the living room.
