ATLANTA—The Colorado Rockies have purchased right-hander Joel Peralta’s contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace injured reliever Matt Daley on the roster.
Daley was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a sprained left foot after he was injured Sunday in a fluke accident. The pitcher was running to back up home plate on an RBI double by Pittsburgh’s Freddy Sanchez when umpire Bill Welke tossed the bat out of the way to clear space. It landed directly under Daley’s left foot on his next stride.
After the game, Daley said X-rays were negative. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in nine games.
Peralta was 4-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 17 relief outings for Colorado Springs. He made 40 appearances for Kansas City last year.
