COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Emily Wood of Salida leads the field with a 1 over 75 after the first round of the two-day Class 4A state girls golf championship at Patty Jewett Golf Course.
One stroke behind Wood is Christina Spinzig of Evergreen.
Others hoping to challenge are third-place Lindsay McGetrick of Valor Christian (81), and Regis’ Kathleen Kershisnik and Evergreen’s Chance Forbes, who are tied for fourth with 82s.
In the team competition, Wood’s score helped Salida to a slim 259-262 lead over Rock Canyon. Broomfield (267), Kent Denver (268) and Cheyenne Mountain (269) are clumped together a few strokes back.
The individual leaders’ group tees off at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday.
