GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Two Grand Junction teens suspected of vandalizing a church, burglarizing a Little League and other crimes have been ordered held without bail after a judge called them “dangers to society.”
Mesa County Magistrate Judge Cynthia Cyphers on Wednesday ordered the continued detention of the 17-year-old boys.
The two were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of several felonies including criminal mischief, first-degree arson and first-degree auto theft. They’re accused of setting a fire in Trinity Baptist Church and causing other damage there; burglarizing the Orchard Mesa Little League; breaking into eight vehicles and stealing a car.
One teen’s mother told the judge she hopes prosecutors will file adult charges against her son.
They’re due back in court May 26.
