COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Court documents released Friday allege a Widefield man raped his 8-month-old grandson before beating him so severely that the boy died of his injuries.
Fifty-one-year-old Willie B. Allmon, a registered sex offender, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of Isiah Wilson. He is being held without bond in the El Paso County jail.
Sheriff’s deputies went to Allmon’s home Monday after a caller summoned an ambulance to check on an unresponsive infant.
An arrest affidavit says doctors at Memorial Hospital determined the child suffered severe head injuries, apparently the result of abuse, and had been raped.
The boy was placed on life support and died Tuesday. An autopsy determined he died from a blow to the head, and the coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide.
According to the affidavit, Allmon initially told investigators he left Isiah on his bed and went to use the bathroom. He said he returned to find Isiah on the floor with a dirty diaper.
Allmon said he knelt down to change the diaper but passed out and later awoke on top of the infant, the document said. He said Isiah was gurgling, and his eyes rolled back in his head.
Allmon later told deputies that he accidentally banged Isiah’s head on the kitchen counter and dropped him while attempting CPR, the affidavit said.
He denied raping the boy.
Allmon initially was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony child abuse but was released after posting $25,000 bond. He was arrested again Thursday after the child died, on a warrant accusing him of first-degree murder. It was not immediately known if Allmon had an attorney.
In 1998, Allmon pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor sex offense after he fondled a child, the sex offender registry said. In 2002, a female relative was granted a permanent restraining order against Allmon after accusing him of sexually abusing her.
