PUEBLO — Prosecutors say a Pueblo police detective who fatally shot a sexual-assault suspect who allegedly pointed a gun at him won’t face charges.

Gerald LeRay shot 54-year-old David LeRoy Wiggs on March 11.

Wiggs was wanted in Fremont County on four warrants, including two for sexual assaults that Wiggs had told his sister he didn’t commit.

A report released Friday by the district attorney’s office said LeRay feared for his life and was justified in using deadly force.
