The seventh inning Monday was a bad stretch of baseball for the Rockies as the Dodgers scored eight runs and had seven hits. It wasn’t just pitching that failed the Rockies. Brad Hawpe dived for Juan Castro’s sinking liner in right field and turned it into a two-run double. Clint Barmes committed a rare error at second base. And third baseman Ian Stewart ran in front of a grounder that shortstop Troy Tulowitzki appeared to have a bead on.

Dandy debut.

Paul Phillips had a pinch-hit single during the ninth inning in his first at-bat as a Rockie. It was the catcher’s first major-league hit since May 20, 2007, at Coors Field with the Kansas City Royals.

On the run.

Russell Martin stole second base during the fourth inning, giving him 55 steals in his career. He is tied for second with Lew Ritter for most steals by a catcher in Dodgers history.
