St. Catherine of Siena School in northwest Denver will remain open for the 2009-10 school year despite word in April that the Catholic Archdiocese of Denver would eliminate funding.
St. Catherine, a K-8 school of 147 students, faced a $250,000 deficit as a result, spokesman Steve Millin said. However, parents of schoolchildren and other community members have resolved to raise the money. The 88-year-old school will announce its financial and academic plans at a news conference 10 a.m. Wednesday in the basement of the church at 4200 Federal Blvd.
