MYERS’ SEASON MIGHT BE OVER
PHILADELPHIA — Phillies right-hander Brett Myers will have hip surgery, and he could miss the rest of the season.
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Myers has a torn labrum and no date has been set for surgery.
Phillies team doctor Michael Ciccotti said Myers could return to the mound to begin throwing 10 to 12 weeks after the operation and it would be another three to six weeks before the pitcher would be ready.
Quentin placed on DL
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Outfielder Carlos Quentin, who led the White Sox in home runs last season with 36, went on the 15-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
Taking his spot on the roster was outfielder Dewayne Wise, who came back from his rehabilitation assignment at Triple- A Charlotte (N.C.) and was reinstated from the 15-day DL.
