A nutrition program targeting Denver’s low-income schools received a $1.3 million grant from the Colorado Health Foundation to expand throughout Colorado, according to an announcement Monday.

The program in 600 classrooms in Denver Public Schools seeks to help families eat healthier and make better food choices. It was developed in the pediatrics department of the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, and in association with Children’s Hospital.

The 40-month grant will serve to broaden the program into 160 additional classrooms including Aurora and Grand Junction, while greatly enhancing the DPS model.
