GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Clifton man charged following a crash that killed his daughter and his girlfriend nearly two years ago has been sentenced to 15 months in prison.
District Judge Valerie Robison sentenced 33-year-old Denny Hatch on Wednesday, two months after he pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and driving with a revoked license.
Hatch was driving a 1993 Saturn that was struck broadside when he pulled into traffic on U.S. 50 on June 6, 2007. Twenty-four-year-old Jennifer Scarbrough was holding 5-year-old Elizabeth Hatch on her lap.
Both were killed.
Denny Hatch’s driver’s license had been revoked since 2001. He also told investigators he’d smoked marijuana the night before the crash.
Hatch could have received probation up to 10 years in prison.
